Every year our farm holds a raffle to raise funds for someone who needs a little extra financial help, often due to illness. We also hope that our support can offer some emotional cheerleading and hope for brighter days ahead. This year we are selling raffle tickets for another beautiful quilt made by our family member, Terry McCloskey. Every penny we raise this year will go to a good friend battling cancer for the second time in her young life.
As a child, Lydia courageously fought cancer and won. Twenty-five years later, in January 2020, she discovered something not quite unexpected but unwelcome: a rapidly growing lump in her right breast. She was diagnosed with stage III, triple negative invasive ductal carcinoma in late March 2020.
Lydia now faces an uncertain journey of length and cost. She started an aggressive regimen of chemotherapy April 15, 2020 at Sharp Memorial Hospital. A double mastectomy (and potentially weeks of radiation) will follow.
We know Lydia as a loyal friend, daughter and sister with a heart of gold. Help us relieve the unnecessary financial burden imposed by cancer treatment. All raffle contributions and donations directly support her medically related expenses (copayments, deductibles, premiums, prescriptions, prosthetic wigs, etc.)
Thank you all for your generosity and kindness!
We will draw a winner for the quilt after the farm closes at the end of September and either deliver it or ship it to the winner.
