An Organic Family-Owned Lavender Farm in Sequim, WA

“B&B Family Lavender Farm is more than just a business; it’s a family-owned lavender farm in Sequim, Washington born from a dream to build something meaningful on the Olympic Peninsula. Located in the unique Olympic Rain Shadow, our 12-acre farm is home to over 14,000 plants and a legacy of traditional agriculture.

The Farm

Our farm is at the heart of our story. B&B Family Farm sits in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley, an area known for its unique climate created by the Olympic Rain Shadow. The dry summers and sunny days make it one of the best places in North America to grow lavender.

The property itself has a long agricultural history. Originally a dairy farm, the land was later converted into lavender production by the Angel family, who helped establish the early lavender industry in Sequim.

Today the farm spans about 12 acres and grows over 14 thousand lavender plants across multiple varieties. Visitors can explore the fields, watch lavender being harvested and dried, and learn about the process of growing and producing lavender products right here on the farm.

We believe in radical transparency. That’s why in 2026, we’ve introduced a way for you to track every bottle of oil back to the exact field and date it was harvested—just scan the code on your bottle to see the journey

Sharing the Farm With Visitors

One of the best parts of our story and running B&B Family Lavender Farm is meeting the people who visit each year. The Olympic Peninsula is an incredible place to explore, filled with mountains, forests, coastline, and beautiful small towns. As a professional photographer, I’ve always been drawn to how the light hits the Olympic Mountains behind our purple rows—it’s why we’ve placed benches in specific spots to help you capture that same magic.

Many guests come to see the lavender fields in bloom, but what we enjoy most are the conversations and connections that happen along the way. Whether visitors are learning about lavender for the first time or returning year after year, we love sharing the farm and the experience of lavender growing in Sequim.

From crafting lavender products to giving tours and sharing their knowledge with guests, our team plays a huge role in making B&B Family Lavender Farm what it is today.

Marie Maxted

Marie has been a crucial part of our story at B&B Family Lavender Farm. She joined the team after moving from Vancouver Island, British Columbia. What began as a spontaneous opportunity during the pandemic became a perfect fit when the farm needed extra hands processing lavender and making products.

Since then, Marie has become an essential part of the farm, enjoying the collaborative environment and sharing her immense culinary talents by helping create many of our culinary treats. She also enjoys spending time with visitors and helping them experience the beauty and charm of the farm.

One of Marie’s favorite parts of working at the lavender farm is seeing visitors light up when they discover the fields, the atmosphere, or a product they love. Her favorite product is culinary lavender bud because of its versatility in the kitchen, where its delicate floral flavor enhances both sweet and savory dishes.

Marie especially enjoys late summer and early autumn, when the pace slows after the busy lavender season and she can spend time gardening, preserving food, and reflecting on the harvest. One of the things she loves most about lavender is its incredible versatility—from culinary uses and floral arrangements to bath products and home fragrances—it’s a plant that brings beauty, aroma, and creativity into everyday life.

Rob Schoenherr

Rob Schoenherr joined the team at B&B Family Lavender Farm in 2021 after being introduced to the family through a friend who owned the neighboring farm. Originally from Grand Lake, Colorado, Rob had spent a summer helping there, where his strong work ethic and enthusiasm caught the attention of Zion and Kristy—along with their children, who quickly appreciated his enthusiasm for playtime.

That connection eventually led to an invitation to join the lavender team and continue our story.

At the farm, Rob especially enjoys meeting visitors from around the world and sharing the many wonders of lavender. One of his current favorite products is the farm’s Lavender Coffee, which he loves for the way lavender complements locally roasted coffee. His favorite time of year is the Lavender Festival in July, when the farm fills with visitors and excitement.

A fun lavender fact he enjoys sharing is that in ancient Rome, lavender was even used as a form of currency.
