Field Bunch: A bunch of lavender that is cut fresh in our field during the peak of harvest. It is then dried for 3-4 weeks in our almost century-year-old barn. Our barn with old wood sides provides the ideal space for drying lavender; the barn allows almost no light in while allowing air to flow through the gaps in the old wood. We select long and straight bunches for field bunches. Field bunches are sold by bunch and on average 49 to 56 bunches makes about 10 lbs of field bunches depending on the variety.. We do not process our field bunches any further once they are dried. Field bunches are taken down from their drying chains and immediately boxed and shipped. We select only our long and straight stemmed bunches for our field bunch orders. However, please note that lavender is a natural product and size, color, shape, weight, and straightness vary per bunch. We do everything in our power during the harvest and drying processes to ensure the highest quality products but we have can not control mother nature. Below are very typical examples of a field bunch and what you can expect from your order.
Here is an example of our Royal Velvet Field Bunches. Each bunch is hand-cut and rubber-banded in the field. Next, we take them to our barn where they hang upside down for 3-4 weeks until they are dry. Our almost century old barn is perfect for drying lavender because the old wood allows air to move in and out of the barn easily without allowing very much light in the barn. That is why our bunches are exceptionally beautiful and dry to a pristine display you and your clients will love.
Here is an example of our Grosso Field Bunches. Each bunch is hand cut and rubber banded in the field. Next we take them to our barn where they hang upside down for 3-4 weeks until they are dry. Our almost century old barn is perfect for drying lavender because the old wood allows air to move in and out of the barn easily without allowing very much light in the barn. That is why our bunches are exceptionally beautiful and dry to a pristine display you and your clients will love.
Here is an example of a box of field bunches ready to be shipped out. We order the perfect size boxes for shipping lavender. The boxes typically hold 49 field bunches for Grosso and 56 bunches for Royal Velvet which is typically about 10 lbs of lavender. The boxes are long enough to not damage the lavender in transit.
