The 2026 Sequim Lavender Timeline

While nature ultimately holds the remote control, Sequim’s unique “Blue Hole” rain shadow usually keeps us on a very predictable schedule. At B&B Family Lavender Farm, we grow over 16 different varieties, meaning our bloom season is extended longer than many other farms!

Pro Tip:

Not all purple is created equal! Our English Lavender (Angustifolia) peaks in late June with sweet, culinary scents, while our French Hybrids (Intermedia) explode into deep, vibrant violets in mid-July. Walk the full length of our rows to see the gradient of colors!

June: The Great Awakening (Green & Budding)

In early June, the farm is a sea of fragrant green. By mid-to-late June, our English Lavenders (Angustifolia) begin to show their first “blush” of color.

  • Best for: Photography enthusiasts who love the “pre-crowd” quiet and the vibrant green contrast.

  • U-Pick Status: Usually opens late June for early varieties.

July: Peak Purple (The Main Event)

This is what you’ve been waiting for! From the first week of July through the Sequim Lavender Festival (third weekend of July), the fields are at their most vibrant.

  • The Stars: Our French Lavenders (Intermedia), like Grosso and Provence, hit their peak “electric purple” mid-month.

  • Best for: The full sensory experience—bees buzzing, intense fragrance, and stunning purple vistas.

Pro Tip:

For the most dramatic “Purple Haze” in your photos, aim for the back-lighting of the late afternoon sun (around 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM). The low sun makes the lavender oils glisten on the buds, giving your pictures a magical, glowing effect.

August: The Golden Harvest

As the purple deepens into a dusty violet, we begin our harvest. We don’t cut everything at once! We carefully harvest for bundles and our essential oil distillation throughout the month.

  • Distillation: This is the best time to visit if you want to see our copper stills in action.

  • U-Pick Status: Available as long as the flowers last—usually through late August.

Why Do Some Rows Bloom Earlier?

With 16+ varieties on-site, we are a living library of lavender.

  • Early Bloomers: Look for Royal Velvet and Folgate to pop first.

  • Late Bloomers: Our Grosso and White Lavender (yes, we have white lavender!) usually

Sequim Lavender Festival FAQs

Historically, peak bloom occurs during the second and third weeks of July. This coincides with the Sequim Lavender Festival. If you want the most vibrant purple fields possible, this is your window.

Lavender oil is most potent when the sun is high! For the strongest fragrance, visit between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM on a sunny day. However, for a more delicate, relaxing scent, the early morning dew brings out a different, fresher aroma.

Yes! While we begin our harvest in early August, we harvest in stages across our 16+ varieties. You can usually find beautiful rows and U-Pick opportunities through the third week of August, along with live distillation demonstrations in our barn.

One of the perks of being in the Sequim Blue Hole is that we get significantly less rain than Seattle or Port Angeles. Even if it’s drizzling, the lavender looks incredibly lush and deep in color. The farm remains open, but we recommend waterproof shoes for the row paths!

Yes, and we love them! Our honeybees are very docile because they are “busy working.” They generally won’t bother you if you don’t bother them. If you have a severe allergy, we recommend staying on the wide main paths rather than walking deep into the rows.
