What a great season! We are getting ready to close up The Shoppe and take down the flags. And sleep! Well, not the sleeping part although it does help that the sun isn’t rising at 5:00 am anymore. But we are still busy de-budding, distilling some second blooms and getting orders shipped out. We hope to have all the lavender down from the chains by the end of October.
And then its project time and holiday planning and product making and don’t forget trimming those 6000 plants! Oh, and figuring out what to do with the 10 billion apples and pears that came off our trees this year. Applesauce anyone? Not that we’re complaining, but we are still learning how to manage all these bonus features of an awesome old farm.
Those of us with Southern California in our blood struggle with the winter season around here, but it helps to keep busy and set goals. And man, do we have a lot of goals and dreams floating around our heads about how to make our farm better. We have a farm meeting almost every week to keep us all on track and make sure we’re not getting lazy or forgetting something. Now sometimes this meeting happens with some Jose’s Mexican Food or during half-time of a football game, but we try to make time.
So although our farm is closing in a few days, we will be focusing more of our efforts on the website and offering some fun holiday specials. Keep a look out! And if you haven’t signed up for our newsletter, you should! (You can do that here.) We offer special deals and recipes you probably don’t want to miss.
